During the month of April there will be construction vehicles transiting the Klickitat Trail in Swale Canyon between trail mile 17 and 20 (Wahkiacus Trailhead to 3 miles south east). Please use caution.

We will be leading a 13-mile mountain/gravel bike ride down Swale Canyon. There is a lot happening in Swale Canyon and this ride will provide an opportunity to share with members and trail users! There will be a limited number of shuttle seats for returning to the start. Riders can also ride a portion of the distance and return to the start. We will depart from the Harms Road trailhead at 11:00 AM, riding to the Wahkiacus Trailhead. Questions and RSVP can be sent to n2fishtoo@gmail.com
KTC is excited to announce the 117 acre former Christianson/Wilson property in Swale Canyon will soon be transferred to Washington State Parks ownership! After a long history of attempted contacts and interventions, KTC worked with the Klickitat County Treasurer’s Office and the new owner in the recent property sale to help facilitate this eventual outcome. Fortunately, State Parks has grant funding to remediate this former homestead. If you are interested in volunteering for this cleanup, please contact KTC.
In early October 2025, a Washington Department of Transportation contractor will be paving the Klickitat Trail through a major section of the Klickitat community. The objective is to facilitate local kids walking and biking safely to and from school using the Klickitat Trail.
Replacement of the Suburbia bridge (removed following the ’96 flood) is slowly moving forward. Our contact with the State Parks planning office reports the Suburbia Bridge replacement project is slowly moving forward. Due to design complexity and delays, additional funding was required for design completion. Bridge designs are now being considered and if all goes well the bridge is scheduled for completion in 2027. State Parks has also put out a public request for proposals to select a design consultant to start working on the trail segment from the Suburbia Bridge to Snyder Creek.
We endeavor to keep you updated on all things related to the Klickitat Trail Conservancy and our efforts to preserve and promote the public use of the 31 mile Klickitat Trail as a recreational, cultural, natural, educational, and economic asset of Klickitat County.
